The results from my data shows that the students in this school don’t know what Koa are or have minimal information about them.  Spreading awareness about the Koa to these students has already helped, since they have learned a lot after one presentation.  During the lesson, they had suggested ideas of what they could do to help like telling their friends about the tree and asking questions to further their learning.  They learned about what Koa is used for and how it prevents erosion and pollution from taking over.  I told them a bit about Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods and their mission to plant thousands of trees over the years to restore the native hawaiian forest.  Also, I discussed when I visited the manager of HARC, he told me that the trees need to be watered every 1-3 days and in sunlight all day.

Being a military based school, most of their knowledge wasn’t on the Hawaiian environment, but about the main states.  At least this year, I went to the school and taught about Koa and the necessary environment to plant them in.  Also, another student had taught to the same class about school gardens, so the school is changing for the better in learning about Hawaiian culture and the importance of our watershed.  Getting rid of American history is not preferred, but to add on more of the Hawaiian history to it is very helpful to the future actions.
