In order to get somewhere with my project, I had to make sure that the elementary school kids understand what I'm doing and why.  I planned to make a pretest on what they know about Hawaiian forests and what problems we have now.  After going through a presentation, I gave them the same test and hoped they have learned about my topic more. Creating a presentation on a topic that has significance to yourself and others by using well thought out explanations to be a part of the issue.  I wanted to let the audience of the elementary school children to be engaged by asking them what they know about native Hawaiian forests before diving into the facts and potential solutions.  Taking a survey before and after can get the kids motivated to pay attention closer so they will be prepared to answer afterwards.  In the end, they will be in charge of our future.

I graded the pre and post tests that I gave to the elementary students and collected data based on their scores.  My goal was to test if their knowledge on Koa trees increased after explaining their use and benefits, rather than not taking information in during the presentation.

During the pre test, 3 students had received 100 percent, and the post test 24 students got 100 percent. This shows that the experiment went well and this method worked.  The students were very engaged in the topic, and that had a big factor in how well they did on their test.  If the students hadn't been paying attention, then the experiment would be a failure.
