Acacia Koa

Humans have taken the lumber for personal use whether it be firewood, carved items, etc.  Deforestation caused an imbalance in the native Hawaiian forest such as an increase in landslides, lack of cleaner air, lack of nitrogen fixing plants ( pulls nitrogen from air with the help of nitrogen fixing bacteria and stores the gas into its roots).

The Koa are a big part of Hawaiian culture and land.  The wood is used for voyaging canoes and hold cultural significance to the Hawaiians.  Also, they prevent erosions, clean the air, provides shade, and screening. This tree is a native hawaiian plant that can fix nitrogen.  Our over polluted air can be saved by these trees and their ability to clean the air we breathe.
